The 2002 Acura RSX Type-S – The Successor to the Integra Throne

The 2002 Acura RSX was the designed to succeed the acclaimed Integra and take its rightful place on the Japanese tuner throne. Among some of the most noticeable improvements are increased engine power and enhanced handling. But, perhaps the biggest change to whch the RSX attests is theat of marketing strategy. It seems that someone in Japan realized that Audi, BMW and the rest of the sports and luxury crowd in Europe must be doing something right by sticking to alppha-numeric desigmnations rather than pulling the names for new cars out of Final Fantasy. And, surprisingly, it seem=s to have worked as 10 years later you can't drive far in the Tristate area without seeing a bevvy of TLs, CLs, MDXs and the now venerable RSX. Anyway, to return to the topic at hand, in terms of size, the RSX is only slightly larger than its predecessor and there are only two trim levels for 2002: the RSX and the RSX Type-S. Fortunately for all involved, the sexier Type-S is the trim that concerns us today. The Type-S is the performance version of the base with a riduculous amount of HP for it's size. Like its predecessor it uses Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control that made it incredibly fuel efficient for its day. Yet, the most interesting thing about the RSX for a vinyl guy like myself is its rich exterior. The smoothly sloping hood and roof line, the pointed nose, pentagonal grille and fantastically formed head and tailights lend themselves incredibly well to wraps, tinting and aftermarket accessories of all types. The 2006 Honda Civic Coupe - Completely Redesigned for Generation Y

If the name of today's current blog escaped your notice then allow me to say it again: Honda remodeled the revered Civic for 2006. Some of the most significant improvements were enhanced fuel-economy, a more powerful 1.8 litre motor, sportier external design and coordinator of top quality functions that enhanced an already renewed internal. The 8th generation also symbolizes Honda’s effort to attract Generation-Yers  as it looks to change its market from the Baby Boomer segment. It’s no shock then that the 2006 Social is both more streamlined and higher-performing than any other since the line’s beginning in 1973.

The 2003 Stang Convertible - American-muscle in an Affordable Package

The 2003 Mustang with V6 or optionally available improved V8 was the last of the “pony car” kind when it rolled off the production floor. The concept of a pony car was conceived with the release of the Ford Mustang Coupe and Convertible (the only available models at the time) in 1964 and is intended to indicate a reasonable, lightweight and intensely customized automobile with a sporty physique.  Although the exploration of the roots of the phrase and the ‘Stang  itself could go on for some time, it is enough to say that the features that introduced the phrase to common parlance (i.e., price, high-style and updated performance) may all be found in the 2003 Ford Mustang Convertible.

In short, the 03 Mustang is what has appropriately been described as a workhorse of a sports car. It is strong and functions well but is deficient in design and complexity. However, one out of every two sports vehicles marketed in the US are Mustangs so Ford Motor Company must be doing something right. The situation looks even brighter when you consider the point that around 135,000 of them were sold and delivered in 2002 which rendered it the best-selling convertible in the United States.  However, since its brief run as only horse car in the first decade of the 21^st century,  current Stang must once again face down its reborn competitors of old  such as the Challenger and the Camaro. No one knows what the time may bring but if its history can provide any clues to its future I’m sure that Mustang will be a favored pony car in the American muscle car tradition for years to come.

The 2004 Dodge SRT-4 - Street Racing Technology Meets Smoked Headlights

Before we begin, and just in case you were wondering, the Dodge SRT-4 is the performance version of the ubiquitous Neon that continues to haunt the strips and parking lots of middle America. The SRT-4 was developed when Chrysler was stgill in the hands of the Germans (as DaimlerChrysler) by their in-house tuner group then known as PVO (which stands for the uninspired Performance Vehicle Operations). In 2004 the PVO was wisely renamedStreet Racing and Technology (you now see the SRT connection don’t you) and the 4 in the tile is indicative of the 4 cylinders f the turbocharged engine. Knowing all of that you can now sleep easier.

The SRT-4 is a nice looking vehicle and surprisingly quick at that. The fornt seats of the vehicle featured additional lumbar and lateral support in order to assist in performance driving (although I’m not sure how physical driving can be unless you intend to flip your ride). What’s great about the 2004 SRT-4 is that it comes with the interior pre-tuned with a faux CF steering wheel (NICE!), shift boot (the thing that goes around the shifter) and a satin silver “cue” ball shifter knob. These elements along with the special SRT gauge faces and matching silver rings on the climate controlreally render it the perfect palette for the addition of an R24 black carbon fiber dash kit. One of these days I’ll actually get around to posting pics but until then you”ll have to trust me on it.

But, I digress. Today’s post is about the aggressive, snub-nosed front fascia and headlights of the SRT-4. I don’t think I need to describe the exterior much since I’ll be showing the pictures shortly but the light smoked headlights really add an extra special touch. I would have preferred the dark smoke or blackout to the light smoke but I think it still works well. Anyway thanks to Brandon in the form of this post and the $20.00 rebate we sent his way and enjoy!
